Google Introduces the Pixel 11 Series, Pixel Watch 5, and Pixel Tag
In a TechCrunch report on Google's annual announcement event, Made by Google 2026, which took place on Wednesday, the tech giant unveiled its new flagship smartphone lineup, the Pixel 11 series, the upgraded Pixel Watch 5 smartwatch, and even a brand-new tracking accessory that serves as a direct competitor to Apple's AirTag. The technology giant utilized the main stage of the event to debut numerous new features powered by its Gemini artificial intelligence technology across its entire portfolio of devices.
AI Features and Gemini Capabilities on Pixel Devices
Google dedicated a very substantial portion of its keynote presentation to discussing Gemini capabilities and other AI features that are coming to its various devices. One of the most prominent and important updates in the realm of accessibility is the expansion of the "Live Transcribe" feature, which will now support American Sign Language (ASL). By utilizing the Pixel's camera, users will be able to have sign language translated directly into written text, providing individuals with an additional method of communication without having to rely on typing on a keyboard.
In addition, Google introduced a new voice-input feature called "Rambler," which is specifically designed to better understand the actual way humans speak in real life. Rather than requiring meticulously phrased and structured sentences, the Rambler feature was engineered to handle run-on sentences, empty filler words, and less organized speech, all while successfully deciphering and clearly translating what the user is attempting to say.
Alongside these major features, several smaller enhancements to the user experience were showcased. The popular "Circle to Search" feature is now accessible more directly from within the Pixel Camera app. This update allows users to identify various objects, search for items located in the distance, translate written text, or ask questions about their immediate surroundings without having to exit the camera interface or interrupt their photography experience.
The Pixel 11 Series and the New Pro Versions
The standard Pixel 11 model features a redesigned rear camera bar, which has become significantly thinner compared to the previous generation of the device. According to company figures, the new camera bar is more than 40% thinner and now utilizes an all-glass surface that stretches across the entire width of the phone. Google is also increasing the base storage capacity of the standard model to 256GB, thereby doubling the starting storage capacity that was previously standard.
The starting launch price for the new standard model has been set at $899, reflecting a $100 price increase compared to the starting price of the Pixel 10. This price adjustment coincides with Google's official decision to completely eliminate the 128GB storage configuration. Furthermore, the ongoing global shortage in RAM memory supplies plays a key role in the decision behind this price increase. The standard Pixel 11 will be available for purchase in four distinct colors: Frost, Hibiscus, Pistachio, and Obsidian.
Simultaneously, Google is placing a stronger emphasis on durability and ruggedness in its Pro series. The company reported that the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL models offer improved drop resistance, alongside a new anti-scratch screen coating that delivers scratch resistance that is more than twice as high as that of the previous Pixel 10 Pro models. The Pixel 11 Pro will start at a price of $1,099, compared to $999 for the Pixel 10 Pro. These flagship devices will be available in Canyon, Fog, Olive, and Obsidian. It is highly notable that this year's Obsidian color option features a fully matte finish.
The New Foldable Device: Pixel 11 Pro Fold
In the foldable smartphone category, Google introduced the new Pixel 11 Pro Fold. According to company data, the new foldable model is nearly 10% lighter and almost one millimeter (1mm) thinner compared to the previous generation, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. It also features slimmer bezels, a 48-megapixel main camera, and an advanced 30x Super Zoom capability.
The company is building upon and improving the IP68 water and dust resistance standard that was first introduced with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold utilizes a back cover constructed from a glass-fiber composite material, which was specially designed to better withstand cracks and shattering. At the same time, a redesigned opening hinge provides additional protection for the foldable device's inner display. Google declares that these structural modifications make the new model three times more durable compared to its predecessor. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold will be offered for sale in Olive and Obsidian colors.
The Highly Anticipated Tracking Tag: Google Pixel Tag
For the first time, Google is now offering its own tracking accessory. The new product, named Pixel Tag, is a compact device designed to assist users in keeping tabs on everyday personal items such as keys, wallets, and travel bags. It connects directly to Android's Find Hub network, allowing users to view the exact location of the tag via the Find Hub app (similar to Apple's Find My app).
The price for a single tracking tag will stand at $29, while a bundle containing four tags will be sold for $99. The new tracking tag can also be located directly from the Pixel Watch. Furthermore, users who own Pixel Buds will be able to ask the Gemini personal assistant to locate the Pixel Tag or make it ring, adding a highly convenient voice-controlled option for finding lost belongings.
The Pixel Watch 5 Smartwatch and Pixel Buds Pro
Google's new smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 5, receives several significant updates focusing on health tracking and biological metrics. The updated Google Health app will provide users with detailed monthly summaries of their blood pressure trends, aiming to help them identify patterns and changes over time. Additionally, the app will offer monthly summaries showing insulin resistance trends.
The price of the 41mm Pixel Watch 5 model will start at $399, while the larger 45mm version will start at $429. Alongside the standard editions, Google is offering a special Stephen Curry edition for $579, which features a unique and exclusive design specifically optimized for physical workouts. Coinciding with these announcements, Google is also launching the Pixel Buds Pro in a new Olive color option.
