Key Claims in Apple's Trade Secrets Lawsuit Against OpenAI
Apple has filed a 41-page trade secrets lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging a coordinated, top-down effort to misappropriate confidential information from current and former Apple employees. The complaint, reported by TechCrunch, outlines extraordinary claims, including OpenAI’s chief hardware officer directing job candidates to bring physical Apple parts and CAD drawings to interviews. OpenAI also allegedly coached departing Apple employees on bypassing security procedures to avoid the immediate 'secured walkout' and maintain access to sensitive data. Additionally, the lawsuit targets the design firm io, acquired by OpenAI for $6.5 billion, and highlights that over 400 former Apple employees have transitioned to OpenAI. While Apple claims it attempted to resolve the issue out of court in February, OpenAI has publicly stated it has no interest in other companies' trade secrets.
